Palos Verdes wild peacocks?

PV is cute area of the
South Bay on a big hill overlooking the ocean &
downtown, about 10 mins north of Redondo Beach,
pretty much down the street from us. The houses up
there are amazing Spanish-style terracotta roofed
estates with lush trees and plants and wildlife. It's
not the Sierras of course, but it's a nice slice of
fresh air and greenery and lawn space in an otherwise
very crowded, urban desert per-se. The only downer of
course is that you pay big bucks for greenery out
here. The houses start in the low millions and go way
up from there. Not exactly something we can look
forward to having one day, lol!
Anywho, in Palos Verdes there is a local species of Peacock that is protected by the community. Driving through the neighborhood, we spotted 5 males, 1 female and heard the enchanting, loud shrieking of many others surrounding us; it was freaking cool. They just perch themselves in a random driveway, or front yard fence, or roof, ect and just hang out in this neighborhood and do their peacock thing! As we were scoping out a male in his gorgeous spring plumage one of the local residents came up to our Jeep and started telling us about a peacock 2 driveways down that had 5 chicks and how excited the neighbors are to see those baby birds It's just cool that nestled in a neighborhood 10 mins away are wild peacocks. I love when LA feels less urban than it really is!
When we came home we did some research and found a website dedicated to the Peafowl of PV, called Friends of the Peacock.
As of 2001, there were two main tribes spread out around PV, with a total population of 119.
